The Daily Twerp
This Daily Twerp thing isn’t really turning out to be a daily thing at all… It’s not that I don’t see idiots on a daily basis, because I do, but more because it’s usually on my way into work and being at work then requires me to do, well, work.
Anywho, today as I was cycling in, I encountered someone who thought that he’d turn right down a road ignoring my very existence as he did so. I have to make it clear that a) I was also turning right, b) I was waiting for oncoming traffic to pass before turning, c) I was positioned ahead of him, and d) I was indicating VERY clearly. All sounds good at the moment, right? Said car (a Ford Galaxy) decided that instead of following me in to the right hand turn and then overtaking when it was safe to do so, that he would overtake me as we were turning, effectively cutting me up and forcing me into parked cars.
I assume he did this because he didn’t want to be stuck behind a cyclist down a road that has a 20mph limit, has speed humps all the way down and has chicanes every few metres. I followed him all the way down that road and eventually overtook him when he had to stop for the lights (I stopped for the red, don’t worry). Ha.
